Academic Program

Cross-disciplinary research through seamless Integration

Tata IISc Medical School will be the new frontier for the next century. Cross-disciplinary research through seamless integration of basic sciences, clinical sciences, applied engineering & clinical practice will enable both researchers and clinicians to significantly boost the impact of their work

The proposed medical program will bridge an important gap in the medical research ecosystem in India, and provide a holistic experience to students and faculty

The postgraduate medical school at IISc aims to create a unique interdisciplinary environment to embark on advanced clinical research to develop affordable healthcare solutions for India and rest of the world. The MD-PhD, an integrated dual degree academic programme, will be at the core of IISc’s postgraduate medical school.

An integrated dual degree programme aims to harmonise the objectives of clinical training and clinical research and prepare students towards translational research, to make them understand the nuances of clinical problems and gain the requisite scientific and technological knowledge to develop new solutions. Physician-scientists graduating from such a programme hold the promise of providing improved medical care, by inventing new-age medical care and products. They would embody a comprehensive “bench-to-bedside” philosophy.

Academic programs proposed to start at the Tata IISc Medical School
